BMX at the London Olympics

Set to be held in the year 2012, the London Olympics is going to host its very first BMX Olympic sport.

The original course had to be changed as many of the riders and judges voted it being too easy, this created a stir of faith if they could get the new course up and running before the deadline date because the riders will need to do sufficient training if they want to take that gold medal home.

Crewe was one of the first places to see a national standard Olympic BMX course open up allowing the professionals to get into what they do best. The course itself cost over £200,000 and was the very first track of its kind in the UK.

There is a great atmosphere around this floodlit track as some of the best riders gather together to put their abilities to the test. Everyone will agree when I say that the 2012 will be one watch, many of today’s generation are into such sports as skateboarding, BMX and other adrenaline sports.

The change in the events have forced places around the UK to create sufficient training grounds so that their best athletes have an equal chance to train and have a fighting chance at the number one spot. These things aren’t cheap either, they are draining the counties bank balances and for what reason? The London Olympics 2012. Will this money go to waste or will it encourage riders to push their skills and abilities to the limit and keep that gold medal in the hands of the United Kingdom.

The 2012 London Olympics will be held at the Velopark which will have a 6,000 seater Velodrome along with the Olympic events that are to be performed. The BMX track will be positioned at the side of this structure forming the new event.

One question that is on the tip of everyone’s tongue is if the BMX event will make or break the London Olympics, being the first major event of this caliber held in the UK there is mass amounts of pressure on England to get things right or it could be an international disaster. All will be revealed when the time comes, this will be a spectacular show that everyone will enjoy.

Along with the information the change in events has caused a lot of controversy over whether it was a good idea or not. What do you think?
