Dominique Vallee

Dominique Vallee continues to make waves in the realm of female freestyle snowboarding as she joins major competitions and lands impressive results. However, she wasn’t always interested in snowboarding. When she was only 2 years old, she began learning how to ski and at the age of 13 she started ski racing. However, it wasn’t only until 2 years later that she realized that her true calling lies in snowboarding. Once she learned the sport, she permanently packed away her skis in exchange for a snowboard. She got convinced to become a pro snowboarder after she watched the Westbeach Classic that was held in Whistler, Blackcomb.

What won her over were the presence of all the professional athletes that she only saw in magazines back then as well as the thrill and excitement felt by the crowd during the event itself. Dominique currently resides in Squamish, BC where she moved from Montreal and regularly trains at Whistler, BC.

She has joined and won a lot of halfpipe competitions. Some of her career highlights include wins in prestigious events. In 2003, she placed 4th at the World Championships. The following year, she bagged the silver medal at the Canadian Nationals. In 2005, she got 7th place at the Halfpipe World Cup that was held in Italy and Korea. The following year, she placed 2nd at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. She also finished 3rd at the Canadian Nationals in 2007.

Even with all of the competitions and events that she is joining, she still finds time to engage in activities other than snowboarding. For one, she made sure to finish her studies. She took up Creative Arts in college and is still pursuing Business and Marketing in a university. Also, she spends her down time relaxing. She regularly goes on surfing trips and plays golf and tennis.
