Ellery Hollingsworth

She may seem like your average high school kid, but Ellery Hollingsworth is actually a pro snowboarder. She started riding when she was around six just for fun, having been taught by her older brother Jeb at the Bromley Mountain in Vermont. Little did she know that she would become one of snowboarding’s best. At a young age, this Stratton Mountain School 11th grader is already making a name for herself and continuously going up the ranks to join the snowboarding veterans. Ellery spends the winter training and practicing her moves in Breckenridge, Colorado. During summers, she attends the US Snowboarding training camp.

In the first Junior World Championships that Ellery joined, she almost reached the podium. The following year, however, she did better and landed and impressive second place. Because of this, she was given an invitation to the US Snowboarding Project Gold Program, which paved the way to a spot in the US Snowboarding Team. Since then, she has been making a lot of progress in her career.

Her career highlights include several wins in different competitions. One of them is a 3rd place in the 2006-2007 Burton Global Open Series and a 4th place in the Breckenridge Grand Prix in December 2007. In the same year, she also bagged 1st prize in the Lake Placid Paul Mitchell Progression Session where she was able to do the first backside 900 ever by a female in the quarterpipe event. What’s more is that Ellery was included in the top 10 of all Chevrolet US Snowboard Grand Prix that she ever joined. She is joining the Winter X Games this 2008 where she is currently the youngest female competitor. But despite all of her achievements in the sport, she still maintains a down-to-earth personality and doesn’t consider herself as a professional athlete.
