Meg Pugh
Margaret Lynn Pugh, also known as Large Marge or simply as Meg, is a 32-year old snowboarder born in Redwood City, California on September 28, 1975. She was already an accomplished soccer player and cyclist but she opted to switch sports. In 1993, at the age of 18, she tried her luck in snowboarding. She quickly got good at snowboarding and instantly fell in love with the sport and since then, she hasn’t stopped riding. Her current hometown is in Orcas Island, Washington where she works as a bartender at the Lower Tavern. She spends most of the year snowboarding in the North Tahoe area in California and in Avon, Colorado, while during the summer she stays in the Government Camp or “Govy” in Mt. Hood, Oregon.
After many years of training and practice, Meg Pugh stands out among the other women snowboarders because of her style and amplitude as she always attempts to go a little bigger and to hold her grabs a little longer in every event. In addition, her cheerful and friendly disposition sets her apart from the others. It is very common for her to be seen with a smile on her face while she is conquering the course. Because of her positive vibes and original style, she is fast becoming one of the crowd favorites.
At present, Meg Pugh is concentrating on honing her pipe skills. Her efforts have been paying off well since the past years have proven to be busy, being filled with schedules for different competitions. In fact, in 2006, she won in the Grand Prix Quarterpipe contest, which was held in Breck Colorado. She also placed ninth in the halfpipe event, paving the way for an invite to the Winter X Games. Similarly in 2007, she entered a lot of competitions such as the World Superpipe Championships where she placed sixth overall.
