Tricia Byrnes, fondly called Trish by her family and friends, has been snowboarding since 1989 when she was only 14 years old. She actually learned how to ski when she was 4 years old at the Bromley Ski Area in Vermont. Practicing on her older brother Doug’s used board, she picked up the sport of snowboarding when her parents purchased a vacation home in Stratton Mountain 10 years later.
As a true veteran of snowboarding, Tricia has competed in all major competitions since the mid-nineties. Since the start, she has exhibited her proficiency in the sport, laying down solid runs and several wins. Her career highlights include impressive finishes in prestigious events. She already has 14 World Cup wins, but she still continues to ride. In 2007, she got 3rd place at the Chevrolet US Snowboard Grand Prix that was held in Tamarack, Idaho and finished eight at the US Open. In 2006, she was the 6th placer in the Olympics. In 2005, she placed 4th in the World Cup. A year before that, she bagged several wins in different competitions: 2nd in the US Open, 2nd at the Mammoth Mountain Grand Prix, and 3rd at the Mountain Creek Grand Prix.
Aside from joining snowboarding competition, she promotes women empowerment. Also, she graduated from St. Michael’s College in Vermont with a double degree in English and Psychology. Tricia used the knowledge and skills that she acquired in college to establish Eastern Edge, which is a free publication dedicated to East Coast riding. Aside from being the owner of the said magazine, she also became its editor. Moreover, she got into media, hosting live webcasts for go211.com. She also got a hosting stint in Maine at Seth Westcott’s Champions Cross and at Mt. Hood Meadows in the first US Snowboarding camp.
