In every list of popular professional skateboarders, the name “Jay Stevason” always appears. Jay was born in Toronto, Canada on October 16 of the year 1971. He grew up in a very diverse community that otherwise demanded people to put challenge in their lives. In an attempt to amuse himself and ultimately find something that he can be good at, Jay tried skateboarding. The moment he attempted to make skateboarding a hobby, it seemed that Jay found his perfect niche where he can shine and be known.
Jay began skateboarding in 1986 when he was fifteen years old. Long before he became a pro, Jay has successfully participated in various local skateboarding competitions. The most successful of his attempts was that in 1989, when Jay went home with the Championship title in the Canadian Amateur Championship. Since then, it seems that nothing could stop Jay from continuously being a top vertical skateboarder.
Shortly after he became a professional, Jay won at the Ramp Rage Event which was held in 1996. In the summer of 1999, he also bagged a top rank at the McDonald's Xtra Xtreme competition. Four years after, Jay went home with the bronze for the 2003 Mobile Skatepark Series Milwaukee in the Vert Sick Trick category. That same year, he ranked fourth in the 2003 Summer Nationals Kona.
As Jay keeps on winning and winning, many sponsors came for him. These include True North Skateboards, Ripzone Clothing, Method Skate Shop and Genetic Footwear. Unlike most pro skateboarders, Jay was fonder of demos than competitions. In fact, his best memory of skateboarding was his participation in Tony Hawk’s in the year 2001, which was held in Virginia.
