Your list of well sought for professional skateboarders will not be complete with the name “JJ Mace” on it. Unlike other pro skaters which were born in places teeming with major attractions like parks, arcades, clubs and other entertainment areas, JJ hails from a place that boasts of beaches and shores. JJ is from Ewa Beach in Hawaii.

As usual as it gets for any teenage boy who grew up in the beach, JJ was fond of boards. However, unlike most of the kids from his hometown which were addicted to surfboards, JJ developed a more serious liking for skateboards. For him, skateboarding was a way to explore and take risks. JJ was up for the challenge of being unique and different from the other kids in his local. As he embraced skateboarding, he did not only find a way to have some fun. Instead, he successfully made a difference.

JJ started skating when he was about thirteen years of age. It was a hell of a challenge to pursue a hobby that wasn’t the major leisure pursuit of most people in his local. For JJ, skateboarding entailed a lot of self exploration and solo discovery of how things should be done. Lacking a great number of local professional skateboarders where one can observe how tricks should be made, JJ approached his well-found hobby as an unknown adventure for surprises that he ought to discover all by himself.

As things got better for JJ, he participated in many local and state competitions. As he ranked fairly in most of the tournaments, he attracted his fair share of sponsorships. Among these were Scarecrow Skateboards, 1984 Clothing, Soria Clothing, Kre-per Trucks, Fast-Times Skateboard Accessories, Accel Wheels, Movement Bearings, and Rise Skateshop.
