Neal has been a participant skater since the year 1986 and has been a professional competitor since the year 1991. The man is known to be a risk taker and a maverick when it comes to skateboarding technique and style, and because of this, he is looked up by different skateboarders that are younger by decades.

In 2003, Neal Hendrix suffered from a biological infection that partially froze his knee. The man was able to fight the infection and was ready to compete in an international tournament fourteen days later. This is a mark of how dedicated Hendrix is to the sport that he has chosen to pursue for nearly two decades.

In world rankings, Hendrix has been positioned as eleventh. When asked as to the three things that made his run memorable, he said that an even longer list included his beloved family, his comrades on the road and of course, scars from minor and major injuries.
