Vert professional skater Ray Fennessey is also known as “The Human Skatepark.” He is a Decatur, Georgia native but is currently based in Atlanta.

In 2003, Fennessey competed at the Tampa Pro Vert Skateboard contest held at the Skatepark of Tampa in Tampa, Florida. His efforts at this contest landed him at 17th place. During the 2002 Philips Fusion Soul Bowl #3 event at Virginia Beach, he won sixth place. That same year, he competed in two skateboarding events, the Vans Triple Crown of Skateboarding held in Cleveland, Ohio and the EXPN Invitational at Gwinnett County, Georgia. He ranked at 26th place and 23rd, respectively. He also landed at 25th place during the 2001 Vans Triple Crown of Skateboarding competition.

Other skating contests Fennessey joined include:

  • 2006 Surf Expo-Volcom Pro Mini Ramp Jam Qualifiers, 26th place
  • 2002 North American Pro Vert, 40th place

Although there isn’t much media coverage on Ray Fennessey, his peers admire him for his aggressive and fearless skating style. Fennessey is featured at the Art of Skateboarding, an online hub of skateboard collectors. One of its artists, Woody Trend, created a glass mosaic representation of Fennessey as a tribute to the vert skater. This artwork is included in Trend’s art series called, “Legends of Skateboarding.” The mosaic, “Fennessey” was actually Trend’s first attempt at a skateboarder’s mosaic.
