Robert Owens was born on November first 1976 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Rob picked up skateboarding as a hobby early in his life. When he was nine years old, he got his first board and he has been skating ever since.
Owens, also called Rob by his friends, led a rather complicated life but skateboarding will remain an integral part of his younger years and adulthood. In the beginning, the sport helped him steer clear of the problems that seemed to trouble so many young black men. However, as he grew older, Rob found himself sucked into a delinquent way of life. He started getting involved in illegal activities such as hustling and assault. He has also fathered four children at a very young age.
August 2000 marked a turning point for Owens when he got involved in a fight that left him with four gunshot wounds. After this, Owens seemed to take stock of his life and decided to attempt to turn things around. Skateboarding would yet again figure in prominently in his life. He attended college at the University of Wisconsin and also opened a skate park at the north side of town.
Owens then signed on with Hustle as an amateur skater. Rob Allen, owner of the Energy Skateboards then asked Owens to join the team. It was during his stint with Energy that Owens finally turned pro in 2003. He is currently with Grime Official Skateboards. In 2004, Owens began getting the attention of the skating community as well as that of several local and national sponsors.
