Surf’s Up: Central California is Hot This Year
According to weather reports, long-term projections on high and low tides, there would be no better place to surf in the United States but Central California.
Incidentally, Central California had also been marked by popular surfing websites as the hot spot for surfing in the past year. Looks like the state of California just re-emerged as the King of Surf among the other state in the US.
What made Central California a prime spot to surf this year? We owe it all to the natural phenomenon known as El Nino. The El Nino phenomenon, though wreaking havoc in some places in the world, has been a consistent component in the production of magnificent swells in Central California.
The influence of the phenomenon has been present even in the eighties and the nineties, when tropical storms and huge swells even in the months of winter delighted surfers from all around the state of California and from other parts of the US.
According to long-term projections, based on the data accumulated from the past years, the mixture of the El Nino cycle and the La Nina cycle form opposing poles of the region will bring about ideal sized swells that will surely delight surfers of varying skills.
November would be the month to look out for, as the projections mark this month to be the period of high activity in the ocean’s front. Swells will manifest themselves in combinations, and so surfers may choose from gigantic swells to comfortable medium-sized swells a few feet high. All in all, it looks like a very good year for Central California indeed.
